Charles Abrams, 63, departed this life on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. Born June 11, 1956, in Sumter County, he was the son of Lillie Mae Bradford Abrams and the late Ernest Lenburg Abrams. He received his education in the public school system of Sumter County. “Byrdman”, as he was called by family and friends, was employed by Barkley’s Body Shop in Sumter for over 25 years. He leaves to mourn his passing: his mother, Lillie Mae Abrams of Sumter; five sisters, Nancy Gilliam (Joseph) of Clarksville, TN, Juanita Wilson, Beverly Abrams, both of Augusta, GA, Dora McFadden (Nathaniel), Betty Lois Lenard (Felix) both of Sumter; five brothers, Leroy Abrams, Michael Abrams (Barbara), Sammie Abrams (Odell), Ronnie Abrams and Clayton Abrams (Natasha), all of Sumter; two uncles, J. P. Abrams (Mabel) and Delgard Bradford, both of Sumter; special friend, Flora Bell Epps, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home of his mother, 1720 Elder Lane, Sumter. Wake services will be held Friday, July 12, 2019 from 6 p. m. to 7 p. m. in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 1 p. m. in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Joseph Ricks, eulogist, Elder J. Elbert Williams, officiating. Funeral procession will leave from the home at 12:30 p. m. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church Yard Cemetery, 4620 Queen Chapel Road, Dalzell.
