Herbert Davis, 71, son of the late Johnny Davis, Sr. and Amelia Choice Davis, was born in Sumter County on May 15, 1948. He departed this life on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. He was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and attended Sumter Area Technical College, where he received his certificate in Refrigeration and Air Condition. Later in 1983, he founded D & H Heating and Air Condition. He was employed at Campbell Soup Company for more than 20 years. He had an unwavering faith in God as he accepted his Lord and Savior at an early age. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul A. M. E. Church – Shaw, Sumter. Herbert enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He was a member of the Love Doctors Motorcycle Club in Sumter for 19 years and served as treasurer for 11 years. He liked to BBQ and enjoyed people. He leaves behind to cherish his loving memories: his wife, Dorotha Bradley Davis; three sons, Herbert Fitzgerald (Diane) Davis, Perry (Sharia) Bradley, J. Tony Brown; one daughter, Natasha (Kevin) Thomas; his siblings, Minnie (Richard) Ramsey, Tommie (Angela) Davis, Freddie (Kathline) Davis, Julius (Betty Ann) Davis, Mary (Daniel) Maple, Silas (Yolanda) Davis; two uncles, Daniel (Nancy) Choice, Edward (Louise) Choice; three sisters-in-law, Louise Davis, Patricia Kirkland, Saprena S. Pringle; seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 692 Kingsburg Drive, Sumter. Homegoing Service will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2019, 2 p. m. at St. Paul A. M. E. Church - Shaw, 1495 North St. Pauls Church Road, Sumter, with the Rev. Eric Dent, Pastor, Eulogist. The Remains will be placed in the church at 1 p. m. for viewing until time of service. The funeral procession will leave from the home at 1:20 p. m. Burial will be in the St. Paul A. M. E. Church-Shaw Cemetery.
