Master Za’Hiar Cokley Hammett, son of Lasheda Cokley, was born on November 9, 2012 in Sumter. On Friday, February 4, 2022, God looked around his garden and saw the need to have Za’Hiar Cokley Hammett joined His other precious Jewels. Za’Hiar was a loving, caring child full of life. He attended Croswell Elementary School, where he was a 3rd Grade A-B Honor Roll Student. He enjoyed sports, football and basketball in particular, but football which was his favorite sport. He played AAU football for the Sumter Spartans and wore number 38. The light of this beloved angel will shine through his family. He is survived by his loving mother, Lasheda Cokley; three brothers, Malcolm Cokley of Patterson, N. J., Amir Cokley of Columbia, and Zuri Cokley of Sumter; his loving aunt and guardian of the home, Loretta Johnson of Sumter; great-grandmother, Sadell Johnson of Sumter; grandmother, Janie (Lacy) Williams of Sumter; grandfather, Frank Cokley of Sumter; one uncle, Frank D. Cokley; one aunt, Erica Whitney; godmother, Latasha Pickens; special cousins, Elle Clark, Amarion Pack, Basir Wells, Michael Evans, Jr., all of Sumter and Bryson Heyward of Columbia; grand uncles, Eric Johnson, Wendell Pack and Tony Wells, of Sumter; special friend, Kayden Dingle of Sumter, and a host of other relatives and friends. In accordance with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during all visitation at the home, 1045 Dibert Street, Sumter. Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon, Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Plaza Church of Christ, 1402 Camden Highway, Sumter, with the Rev. Jonathan Godsey, Eulogist. The procession will leave the home at 11:20 a. m. Burial will be in the Bradford Cemetery, Highway 15 South, Sumter..
