Omie Jean Jenkins, 70, widow of John Lee Jenkins, Sr., entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital, Columbia. Born on November 29, 1949 in Woodrow, she was the eldest daughter of the late Leila Jennings Surles and Robert Lee Jennings. She was a devoted homemaker and caregiver. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Greater St. Paul Non-Denominational Church, Sumter, where she was an avid and faithful member of many auxiliaries. Omie enjoyed many years of service on the Usher Board, Gospel Choir and Ladies of Grace, Missionary Board and Outreach Committee. She leaves to cherish her memories: five sisters, Roberta (Charles) Colclough, Jackie (Earl) Champagne, Willie Mae (Eddie) McMillan, Janie (John) McKnight and Bernette (Michael) Norris; two brothers, Thomas (Wilhelmina) Jennings and Charles Jennings; two sons, John Lee Jenkins, Jr. and Ereike Demonte Jenkins; six daughters, Angela, Barbara, Joeann, Lisa, Johniemae and Jessica Jenkins of Sumter; a special niece whom she raised as her own, Catina Tomlin; ten grandchildren; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family is requesting no visitors at the home, 533 South Sumter Street, Sumter. Graveside Services will be held 2:00 p. m., Friday, May 1, 2020 at the Bishop W T English Memorial Park, 3679 Congruity Road, Sumter, with Pastor Henry Simmons and Minister Ernest Legette, officiants.
