Welcome to Williams Funeral Home

Joe Nathaniel Scarborough, 68, departed this earthly life on Monday, July 22, 2019. Born in Lynchburg on April 29, 1951, he was the son of the late Floyd and Fannie Mae McGill Scarborough. “Jacky”, as he was affectionately known, attended school in the Lee County School District and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School. After graduating, he moved to Florida where he worked in the Citrus industry for several years before returning to South Carolina. Upon returning, he obtained employment in construction work for many years until failing health would not allow him to continue. He was a member of St. Matthew A. M. E. Church in Lynchburg until he relocated to Florida. Even though he was not an avid churchgoer, he loved the Lord and his family. He was married to the late Dorothy Williams Scarborough. He leaves to cherish his memories: one son, Codell Fortune (Hermina); five grandchildren; two brothers, Johnnie Scarborough (Jennifer) of Lynchburg, Charles Scarborough (Mildred) of Bishopville; three sisters, Eavadene Legrant of Elliott, Pandora Moses of Bishopville and Lora Dean James of Columbia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home of his son, 38 Broomstraw Lane, Bishopville. Funeral services will be held in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, at 1 p. m. Saturday, July 27, 2019 with the Rev. Elroy Davis, officiating, eulogist. The procession will leave from the home at 12:20 p. m. Burial will be in the Scarborough Cemetery, Lynchburg.
