Melvin Eugene McLeod, 77, was born on March 20, 1948 to the late George and O’Dessie Cook McLeod in Sumter, South Carolina. He departed this earthly life on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. Melvin attended the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Ebenezer High School with the Class of 1966. At an early age, Melvin joined Antioch United Methodist Church. He served as an officer with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Department and was employed with Sumter Machinery/US Foundry. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his wife, Maebelle Jennings McLeod, children and a host of other relatives and friends. Celebration of Life Services will be held 11:00 A. M., Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Antioch United Methodist Church 4040 Dubose Siding Road, Sumter, with the Rev. Franklin Garrett, Pastor. Burial will follow in the Antioch United Methodist Church Cemetery.
