Herbert David Johnson, affectionately known by the nickname "Coodie", was born on July 2, 1959 in Philadelphia, PA to Annie Mae Johnson Frierson and the late James Eugene Blyther. At an early age, Herbert moved down south, where he joined his grandparents, the late Elijah Johnson Sr. and Rosa Lee Johnson. Herbert passed away peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2026, at the age of 66. Precious memories will be cherished by his wife, Beverly Washington Johnson, children and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at 5940 Martinville Church Road, Sumter. Celebration of Life services will be held 1:00 P. M., Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Mt. Olive AME Church, 2738 Woodrow Road, Woodrow, with the Rev. Dr. R. L. Brown, Pastor. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Memorial Garden, Pear Street, Woodrow.
