James “Brother” Walter Levy, 87, of Sumter, SC passed away June 27, 2025 at Atrium Health Pineville, Charlotte, North Carolina. He was born on June 3, 1938 to the late Theodore Roosevelt Levy and Isabel McCleod Levy of Bishopville. James attended the public schools of Sumter County, destined for a better life he joined the US Navy where he served his Country and received many Awards and Citations. After living in New Orleans, LA for many years, but being a displaced survivor of 2005 Hurricane Katrina, he returned back home to Sumter. His precious memories will be cherished by his wife, family and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 323 Grantham Street, Sumter. Graveside services will be held 2:00 P. M., Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Florence National Cemetery, 803 East National Cemetery Road, Florence, SC, 29506.
