Samuel “Sam” “Sam Jr.” Hayward Jr. departed this life and entered eternal rest at 12:59 a. m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at MUSC Health Orangeburg. He was born on March 11, 1955, in Sumter County, to the late Samuel Hayward Sr. and Ella Rose McCoy. Samuel attended the public schools of Sumter County and graduated while enlisted in the United States Army. At an early age, he joined Congruity Presbyterian Church USA. Samuel enjoyed watching Westerns, joking around, dancing and spending time with his family. He had many trades; carpentry and plumbing. He leaves to cherish his memories: a wife, Karen Hayward; two daughter, Samantha Hayward and Javon Lewis; one son, Samuel Hayward; fourteen grandchildren; two brothers, Lewis Hayward (Virginia), Anderson Hayward (Andrea); one sister, Carolyn Hayward; one brother-in-law; Vanish Shannon; an adopted brother, Andrew Kennedy; special friends, David Rembert and Norman Brown; three aunts, Mary Jane McCoy, Marie Davis, Mary E. McCoy; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. a special cousin, Gary Nelson; Many loved ones from the Hayward, McCoy, Davis, Nelson and Pressley Families. In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home of his niece, Elonda Blyther, 17 Gerald Street, Sumter, from 3:00 – 8:00 p. m. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023, 11:00 a. m. at Congruity Presbyterian Church USA, 3750 Congruity Road, Gable, with the Rev. Alonzo Washington, Pastor, Eulogist. The procession will leave the home at 10:30 a. m.
