Delores Turner, daughter of the late Johnnie Williams and Sammie Taylor, was born on October 28, 1937 in Sumter. She departed this earthly life on June 5, 2023 in Union County, North Carolina. She was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. She was a member of Mt Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully and loyally in Church School, YWA, Women's Ministry, Vacation Bible School and the Golden Age. She was employed with Young's Market, Unionized Workers, Attendance teacher/Truant officer for Sumter School District, Operator and Co-owner of Johnnie Williams Cafe and other business owned by Johnnie Williams Sr. She leaves to cherish her memories: son, George Anthony Cox V and the late Terry Sharp Sr.; brother, the late Johnnie D. Williams III; sisters, Jeanie Green; grandchildren, George Tariq Cox VII, the late George Chris Cox VI, Weston Anderson, Adriana Rhodes, Scherrie Poindexter, Treevour Sharp, Terry Bennett, Savonnia Judge and Bertila Boyd-Bostic; great grandchildren, Cameron Poindexter, Peyton Poindexter, Zyaire Judge, Malik Judge, Felicia Bennett, Kaiya Bennett and Kierstyn Bennett, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting no visitation. Memorial services will be 11:00 a. m., Monday, June 12, 2023 at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 325 Fulton Street, Sumter, with Pastor James Blassingame, Officiating.
