Laura (Bea) Workman Dinkins, widower of Ollie Dinkins, Sr., was born November 25, 1933 in Rembert. She was the daughter of the late Jessie Workman, Sr. and Lucille Dinkins Workman. On Saturday, January 8, 2022, she was called from labor to reward at the age of 88. Laura attended the public schools of Sumter County, where she excelled in the sport of basketball. She later furthered her education at the Sumter County Career Center, where she received her certificate in Cooking and Culinary Arts. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Rafting Creek Baptist Church. There she worked in several ministries: Missionary Society, Pastor’s Aid, Kitchen Ministries and the Sunday School. Laura was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, Ollie Dinkins on August 7, 1951. God blessed this union to flourish for over 54 years. She was employed at the Officer’s Club, Shaw Air Force Base, where she worked diligently as a cook until retirement. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: one beloved son, Ollie Dinkins, Jr.; eight daughters, Linnie M. Singleton, Genovia (Jimmie) JDennis III, Gloria Dinkins, Jacqueline Dinkins, Kathy D. English, Tracey (Roosevelt) Nelson, Jr., Ethel Dinkins and Jduna Dinkins; three children she raised as her own, Patricia Nickleson, Debra Moody and Lane Robinson; five grandchildren she raised, Enrico Dinkins, Desiree D. McMillan, Lavina D. Smith, Charmeka D. Gibson and Michael Dais; one brother, Dorsey (Eva) Workman; two sisters-in-law, Brenda (George) Waters and Ann Workman; one brother-in-law, Rev. Freddie Davis; one daughter-in-law, Mary G. Sanders; twenty nine grandchildren; fifty six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one godson, Reno Jordan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 4620 Easy Street, Rembert. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a. m., Friday, January 14, 2022, at the Catchall Masonic Lodge #425, 3280 Peach Orchard Road (Highway 441), Dalzell, with Pastor Melvin Mack, Pastor of Rafting Creek Baptist Church, officiating. The Remains will be placed in the Catchall Masonic Lodge at 10:00 a. m. for viewing until time of service. The procession will leave the home at 10:20 a. m. Burial will be in the Rafting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 3860 Highway 261 North, Rembert.
