Heremineo "Penny" Sims Wright, began her life journey on Sunday, May 13, 1962, born to Sallie Fullard Sims and the late Joe Louis Sims in Sumter. She married her best friend and love of her life for 22 years, the late George Willie Wright I in 1981. To this union they were blessed with a son and the joy of their life, George, II. She transitioned peacefully from this earthly life to her eternal rest on Friday evening, July 2, 2021 at home. "Penny" was a member of the 1981 graduating class from the Sumter High School "Fighting Gamecocks" in Sumter. While at Sumter High, she was a member of the athletic department track team. She was especially known for her speed and received an award in the 400-meter relay. She also played softball in the community league where her speed was a big asset. "Penny" accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She was a life-long member of Beulah A M E Church, Sumter. She grew up in Beulah singing on the Youth Choir. She was also a member of the Church School Department, Women's Missionary Society, Ladies' Club, and Lay Organization. She especially enjoyed and supported the young people's Liturgical Praise Dance Ministry. She leaves to cherish her precious memories a loving son, George Willie (Akira) Wright, II; loving and caring Mother, Sallie Sims; one brother, Larry (Mary) Fullard; five sisters: Marjorie Sims, Rebecca (Ricardo) Robinson, Betty Sims, Rochelle Sims of Sumter, and Sandra (Angelo) Johnson of Greenville; two precious grandchildren; a companion, Edwin Eaddy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. In accordance with the COVID -19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 1017 Dover Circle, Sumter. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a. m., Friday, July 9, 2021 at Beulah A. M. E. Church, 3175 Florence Highway, Sumter, with the Rev. Dr. Dwayne Bruce, Senior Pastor, Officiating and the Rev. Cedric Anderson, Eulogist. Viewing and visitation will be Thursday, July 8, 2021 in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter. Burial will be at a later date in the Florence National Cemetery. Funeral procession will leave from the home at 10:20 a. m.
