David Roach, husband of the late Earnestine Dawson Roach, son of the late Irvin Sr. and Elizabeth Logan Roach, gained his heavenly wings on May 20, 2021 at his home. He attended the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Ebenezer High School, Class of 1967. He later was drafted in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was employed at AAFES Exchange, formerly known as the PX, for several years until his retirement. He was a faithful and outstanding member of High Hills A. M. E. Church, where he served on the Steward Board and Trustee Board. Everyone knew that he was a great tenor singer. He sang on several choirs, Gospel Choir, Men Chorus and the World Wonder Singers. He leaves to cherish his memories: his son, Brian (Shaneequah) Morant; three granddaughters, Sheronicka Morant, Saleemah Morant (Dimarcus) and Soncerae Morant; four great grandchildren, Don’Ivyia Morant, Maliyia Morant, DiMarcus Bell, Jr. and Kaliyiah Morant; three sisters, Annie Bell and Shirley Roach of Sumter, Christine (Homer) Bridges of Columbia; three brothers, William and John Henry Roach of Sumter, Irvin Roach, Jr. of Columbia; one aunt, Wilhelmina Keith of Steelton, PA; one uncle, Joseph Logan of Harrisburg, PA; four sister-in-law; one brother-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, family and friends. In accordance with the COV19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitations at the home, 2875 Clarkson Road, Dalzell. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 27, 2021 – 11:00 a. m. in the Kings Highway Community Park, 2035 North Kings Highway 261 North, Dalzell, with the Rev. Keith R. Mayes, Sr., officiating. The procession will leave from the home at 10:30 a. m. Burial will be in the High Hills A. M. E. Church Cemetery, 6780 Meeting House Road, Dalzell.
