Minnie Lee Jett Drayton, 82, was born on April 27, 1938 to the late Zak Brown Williams and Carola Jett. She was affectionately known as “Mint” or “Grandma Minnie”. She departed this life on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital, Columbia. She was educated in the public schools of Lee County. She was married to the late Bennie Drayton, Sr. At an early age, she joined Mechanicsville United Methodist Church. She worked for Breakers in Myrtle Beach for many years. Finally, he rewarded her with the thing she desired most, to dwell in His house forever. She leaves to cherish her memory: eight daughters, Emma of Elizabeth, NJ, Linda, Belinda, Evonn, Barbara Ann, Renee, Sandra and Karida, all of Sumter; step daughter, Janie (Bo) McKnight of Fayetteville, NC; fifteen grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; her sisters, Bertha (Wilford) Robinson of Sumter, Lula Mae (Calvin) Davis of Roselle Park, NJ, Pat Williams, Annette Williams of Columbia, Linda (Brett) Pearson of Sumter, Ruby Williams of Paterson, NJ, Helen (Herbert) McDuffie of Columbia; her brothers, Billie Jett of South Hampton, NJ, Willie Jett of Sumter; sister-in-law, Costella Jett of Charlotte, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In accordance with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 719 North Main Street, Sumter. Graveside services will be held 12:00 noon, Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Mount Moriah United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1379 Swimming Pen Road, Mayesville with Rev. Larry Jett Wilson, officiating. The processional will leave from the home at 11:20 a. m.
