Henry Lee Bethea, 70, departed this life on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. He was born on September 12, 1950. He departed this life on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. He was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Lincoln High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he earned several metals during his 10 years of service before receiving an honorable discharge. At an early age, he was a member of Morris Chapel Baptist Church. He leaves to mourn his death: four daughters, Tereia Pollard of Columbia, Sheila (Wayne) Johnson, Melissa Bethea, Lataya (Sidney) Fullwood, all of Sumter; eleven grandchildren; seven siblings, James (Milledred) Bethea of North Carolina, Leroy Bethea of Texas, Micheal (Benjamin) Bethea of Washington, DC, Ben Bethea of Columbia, Tommy Lee (Sandra) Bethea of Sumter, Rethea (Leon) Connell of Jacksonville, FLA, Zulean (Ivory) Hayes of Sumter; a multitude of nieces and nephews, mother of his daughters, other relatives and friends who came to love and cherish him throughout his life. Due to the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting face masks and social distancing be observed by all relatives and friends during home visitation at 3921 Black Berry Lane, Sumter. Funeral services will be held 1 p. m., Monday, November 9, 2020 in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter with the Rev. James Kennedy, officiating. The procession will leave the home at 12:30 p. m. Burial will be in the Sandy Grove Cemetery, Lamar.
