Loretta Myers, 74, was called to eternal rest on Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at her residence. Surrounded by family, she transitioned from humane labor to reward. She was born to the late John H. and Annie Mae Myers McDaniel in Woodrow (Lee County) on February 5, 1946. She was educated in Lee County Public Schools and graduated from Dennis High School. She was later united and married to Herman Gibbs, who preceded her in death. Loretta committed the majority of her life as a business owner and an entrepreneur. She worked as a secretary for Morris College, Sumter, and for the Pentagon, the United States Department of Defense, Washington. DC. She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Benjamin Gibbs of Sumter; one granddaughter; four brothers, John H. (Luluwa) McDaniel and Edward L. (Georgia) McDaniel, both of Sumter, James C. (Christine) McDaniel of Atlanta, GA, Elijah A. (Geneva) McDaniel of Woodrow; one sister, Janice McDaniel of Woodrow; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held 10 a. m., Friday, April 10, 2020 at Barnettsville Baptist Church Yard Cemetery, 106 Manville-St. Charles Road, Bishopville, with the Rev. Wayne Montgomery, pastor, eulogist.
