Francena Cowell, 60, was born on January 18, 1960 in Sumter to her parents, Saul Benjamin and Jessie Mae McLeod. She departed this life on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at Agape Hospice Facility, Lexington. Francena attended the public schools of Sumter County. After receiving her High School Diploma from Sumter High School, Class of 1977, she continued her studies at Central Carolina Technical College where she received her associates in medical secretarial. Before her health began to fail, she was an active member of St. Paul Pentecostal Church where she sang on the choir. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by: her loved ones consisting of three children, Calvin Cowell, Tawanda Cowell and Alan Cowell; two brothers, Michael Cowell (Rose) and Alphonso Cowell; one sister, Glendell Baker; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 735 Flamingo Road, Sumter. Funeral services were be held Monday, March 30, 2020, 11:00 a. m. in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with Elder Barrington Pierson, officiating, eulogist. The funeral procession will leave from the home at 10:20 a. m.
