Ethel McDonald Vaughn, widower of Herbert Smith Vaughn, was born March 25, 1927 in Lee County to the late Elliott McDonald and Margaret Robinson McDonald. She peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. She grew up in Elliott. At an early age, she accepted Christ and lived a Christian life. When she married Herbert Vaughn, she became a devoted member of Clark United Methodist Church, where she became a Lay Speaker, Sunday School teacher, a member of the Young Adult Choir and Senior Choir. She remained a faithful and loyal member of the church until her health failed. Mrs. Vaughn leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Robin Vaughn and Catherine Belser of Sumter, Shirley (Thomas) Rush of Anchorage, AK, Harold (Nancy) Vaughn of Oxen Hill, MD, Linda (Robert) Morgan of Largo, MD, Donna (Hawthorne) Cave of Mt. Ranier, MD, Roy (Ruth) Vaughn of Los Angeles, CA; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Hardy (Herman) of Sumter; a brother, Eugene McDonald (Rose Ann) of Ridgeway; a sister-in-law, Fannie McDonald; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 2 Eaton Boulevard, Sumter. Funeral Services will be held 2 p. m., Wednesday, March 4, 2020 from the Clark United Methodist Church, 2980 Highway 401 North, Sumter, with the Rev. Franklin Garrett, pastor, eulogist. The Remains will be placed in the church at 1 p. m. The procession will leave the home at 1:20 p. m. Burial will be in the Clark United Methodist Churchyard Cemetery.
