Herman Willis, Jr., 68, affectionately known as “Boney”, departed this earthly life on Monday, May 20, 2019 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. Born December 27, 1950, in Sumter County, he was the son of the late Herman Willis, Sr. and Daisy Goodman Willis. He attended the public schools of Sumter County. After graduating from High School, he moved to New York. He was married to the late Rosa Willis and after the death of his wife, he relocated back to Sumter with his sisters. He joined New Birth Holiness Church. He leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, Cassandra Latoya Johnson; one step daughter, Verna T. Uptigrow; one granddaughter, Nina D. Uptigrow; sisters, Agnes Jackson, Linda (Sanford) Smith, Loretta (Leon) Washington, Dianne (Albert) Hill, Rayshell (Jake) Washington, Toni (Jimmy) Richardson, Wanda Louis, Margaret McBride, Valeria (Derick) Lowery and Runette McBride; brothers, Norman (Terri) Pringle, Timothy (Renee) Willis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 40 Larkin Street, Sumter. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2019, 11 a. m. from the New Birth Holiness Church, 41 Larkin Street, Sumter, with Bishop Nathan Amos, pastor, eulogist. The Remains will be placed in the church at 10 a. m. for viewing until the hour of service. The funeral procession will leave at 10:30 a. m. from the home. Burial will be in the Dicks Cemetery, Dicks Street, Sumter.
