Roy Hallie Lowery, Jr., 72, departed this earthly life on Sunday, April 21, 2019 at his home in Lynchburg. Born August 20, 1946, in Sumter County, he was the son of the late Roy Lowery, Sr. and Lucile Ballard Lowery. He received his formal education in the Sumter County School System. Roy was truly a jack of all trades. After his long tenure serving the citizens of Sumter County, he retired from the City of Sumter. Roy is survived by daughter, Nichelle Lowery Youngblood; son, Maurice “Boodie” Lowery (Regina); step son, Tyrone Lowery; first wife, Isabella Golden, and second wife, Barbara G. Lowery; daughters, Laquan Shannon (Jerome), Quinntana Lowery; son, Jamal Lowery; sister, Mozell Nakamura (George); brother, Michel Boyd (Nadine); five grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 213 King Street, Sumter. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 26, 2019, 2 P. M., from the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Jackie Jackson, Officiating, Eulogist. The funeral procession will leave from the home at 1:20 p. m.
