Stevie Leevon Commander, 56, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019 surrounded by family and friends. He was born February 27, 1962, in Sumter, son of Betty Jean Commander and the late William (Toson) Commander. Stevie was a graduate of Maywood High School, Class of 1981. He was employed by Martin Color – Fi. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a die hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He loved to joke and was the life of the party. If you knew Stevie, you knew he nicknamed everyone. He leaves to cherish his memories: his only son, Javon Latrell Miller and a significant other, Diane Williams; his mother, Betty Jean Commander; brother, William (Linda) Commander; four sisters, Willie Mae Montgomery of Sumter, Jennie Jones of Foley, ALA, Cheryl Carter of Sumter, Francesca (Alvin) Olden of Wedgefield; a special nephew, Darnell (Marilyn) Moses; a host of nieces, others nephews, relatives and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home of his brother, 790 Reed Roman Road, Sumter. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 25, 2019, 1 p. m. from the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Brother Frank Bruce, officiating. The procession will leave at 12:20 p. m. from the home Burial will be in the Unionville A. M. E. Church Yard Cemetery, 1330 Swimming Pen Road, Mayesville.
