Mary Pressley Jackson, 89, departed this earthly life on Saturday morning, January 5, 2019 at her home in Sumter. Born in Dalzell, March 8, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Louie and Lillie Jackson Pressley. At an early age she joined St. Mark Four Bridge Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as a member of the Sunday School, Missionary Society, Gospel Choir and Pastor Aid. “Mackey”, as she was affectionately known, was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. She was employed at Sumter Laundry and Cleaners and Shoney’s Restaurant until she retired. Mary leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Earnestine (Lucious) Pringle of Sumter, Bernice (George) Rembert of Dalzell; three sons, John Jackson of the home, James (Thomasena) Jackson and Robert L. (Maxine) Jackson, both of Sumter; one sister, Lillie M. White of Sumter; one daughter-in-law, Ruby Dow Pressley of Sumter; eighteen grandchildren; thirty six great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends from 3 to 9 p. m. at the home, 2280 October Circle, Sumter. Celebration of Life services will be held Friday, January 11, 2019 –12 noon from the St. Mark Four Bridges Missionary Baptist Church, 2280 Four Bridges Road, Sumter, with the Rev. Sammie D. Simmons, Pastor, Eulogist, The Remains will be placed in the church at 11 a. m. The funeral procession will leave from the home at 11:20 a. m. Burial will be in the St Mark Four Bridges Missionary Baptist Churchyard Cemetery.
