Edith M. Martin, 89, widow of James R. "Pee Wee" Martin, Sr., passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Willow Park Health Care Center, Lawton, Oklahoma. Born in Elkhorn, West Virginia on March 26, 1924, she was the daughter of the late John and Daisy Callaway Ensley.
She was a devoted Christian in her hometown in West Virginia and a homemaker for many years. She lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Clinton Branch for 12 years before she had to live at the Care Center for her health. She was a dedicated member of St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church, where she enjoyed many memories.
She leaves to cherish precious memory: her sister, Marion Ensley of New Jersey; her children, Barbara (Clinton) Branch of Lawton, OK, Reginald Martin of Lorton, VA, Edith Martin of Waldorf, MD, Deborah Milliner of Alexandria, VA, Diane (Michael) Dickerson of Dalzell, SC; seventeen grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sons, one daughter, four brothers, and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon, Saturday, May 4, 2013 from the John Wesley Williams, Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with Pastor B. Bradley, officiating, assisted by Bishop Warren Branch.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Michael Dickerson, 3955 Delaware Drive, Dalzell.
The funeral procession will leave 11:20 a. m. from the home of her daughter and son-in-law.
Flower bearers and pall bearers will be family and friends.
Interment will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park, 802 North Guignard Drive, Sumter.
