Daisy Carter Keith

On  Thursday, November 2, 2012,  God saw  in his infinite wisdom to call Daisy Carter Keith home from earthly battles to heavenly rewards after a long illness.  Born on September 18, 1923 in Sumter County, she was the daughter of the late Deacon John Carter, Sr. and Lillie Jennings Carter.  She was educated in the public schools of Sumter County.  She accepted Christ at an early age, was baptized, and joined Grant Hill Baptist Church, where she remained a member for over 73 years.  She was a dedicated member of the Senior Choir, Senior Missionary Society, Usher Board and Y. W. A. ministries until her health failed.  She was employed by Sumter School District # 2 as a custodian for 19 years.  She was united in marriage to William Keith, Sr. and to this union nine children were born.

She leaves to cherish fond memories:  her loving, kind and devoted caregiver husband of 68 years, William Keith, Sr.; two daughters, Daisy (Joseph) Brown of Plainfield, NJ and Ruby Carter of New York, NY;  six sons, James Keith, William Keith, Jr. and Darryl (Cherlyn) Keith of Sumter,  Alexander (Diane) Keith of New York, NY, Phillip (Tina) Keith of Oceanside, CA and Willie Lee Gibson of Philadelphia, PA;  twenty grandchildren;  twenty two great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren;  one sister, Alice Brown of New York, NY;  one sister-in-law, Marie Jefferson of Dalzell;  four godchildren, Ernest and Lula Jenkins, Silva Brown and Monica Bolden; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends;

Daisy was preceded in death by daughters, Evelyn Keith Butler and Rosalee Keith; a son, Mitchell Keith; three brothers and six sisters.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p. m., Wednesday, November 7, 2012 from the Grant Hill Baptist Church, Black River Road,  Rembert,  with the Reverend Clifton Witherspoon,  pastor, eulogist,  assisted by  the Rev. Durant  Jenkins,  Rev. R. L. Williams, and Rev. D. L. Grant

The family will receive friends at her home 3421 Ebenezer Road, Dalzell.

The Remains will be placed in the church at 1:00 p. m.

The funeral procession will leave her home at 1:30 p. m.

Floral bearers and Pall bearers will be family and friends.

Burial will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Dalzell.
