Thelma L Jasper Jenkins
Mar 05, 1926 to Apr 03, 2011

Evangelist Thelma Louise Jasper Jenkins, 85, entered into eternal rest on  Sunday, April 3, 2011, at Kershaw Health Medical Center, Camden.  Born March 5, 1926 in Sumter County, she was the daughter of the late Reverend T. S. Jasper and Fannie Sanders Jasper.

Thelma was saved, sanctified and filled with the gift of the precious Holy Ghost.  She loved the Lord with all her heart and loved to dance and sing praises to the glory of God.  No matter what she may have forgotten as her health began to fail, she never forgot the name of Jesus. Prior to her decline in health, Evangelist Jenkins was the assistant Pastor of Deliverance Temple Church, Rembert, under the leadership of her sister, Pastor C. R. Council.  She was formerly a member of the Holy City Center of Love, under the leadership of Apostle Callie M. Jasper, Brooklyn, NY, where she served faithfully until 1975 when she then moved to South Carolina.  She was also a founder of the International Prayer Band with prayer groups throughout the United States all the way to Santo Domingo Republic.

Evangelist Jenkins loved people, and her life consisted of helping and loving everyone not just her family.  No matter who you were, she extended herself always.  She loved to cook and watch everyone enjoy her home-cooked dishes.  She was a remarkable mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, who never met a stranger.  She would always say, “Be kind to everybody, because you don’t know who’ll have to give you your last glass of water”.

She leaves to cherish precious memories;  her loving daughter, Evangelist Judy Findlay  (Owen) of Brooklyn, NY;  two granddaughters, Dr. T. La’Trell Penny of Sumter, Mrs. Takisha Mosley (Thomas) of Brooklyn, NY;  two grandsons, Torrell C. Holt of Brooklyn, NY,  Terron Y. Holt (Tiffany) of Sumter;  ten great-grandchildren,  Nyree, Ashley***, Jeremy, Kayla, Takia, Torrell Jr., Ya-Ya,  Jocelyn, Taj, Juvonne;  three great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Elder Maggie Osborne and Pastor C. R. Council of Sumter;  two brothers,  Deacon Joseph Jasper (Geneva) and Rev. John Jasper (Linda) of Sumter;  three aunts;  one uncle;  sisters-in-law;  a host of  nieces, nephews,  cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Jenk” Jenkins, five brothers and three sisters.
