Roberta “Deccie” Pollard King, 65, wife of Jimmy King, departed this earthly life on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at Temple Hospital, Philadelphia, PA. Born December 11, 1945 in Sumter County, she was the daughter of Alma Pollard.
She was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. She was a member of Love Zion Baptist Church, Philadelphia, PA. Roberta was a loving and caring person who wasn’t a stranger to any one she met. She loved talking with people.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her husband, Jimmy; her loving mother, Alma Pollard; two sons, Jeffery King and Jimmy King, Jr.; two daughters, Shirley Ann King and Frencella (Nasim) Brown, all of Philadelphia, PA; four sisters, Louise (James) Myers of Patterson, N. J., Gloria (Ransom) Brunson, Ethel Sanders and Lillian Pollard, all of Rembert; four aunts, Mattie Jenkins, Lucille Williams, Evelyn Pollard and Earline Swan; four sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; seventeen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by one brother, James Pollard.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p. m., Saturday, October 16, 2010 from the John Wesley Williams, Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with Elder Clarence McCall, officiating, eulogist, assisted by Elder Jerry McCall.
The family will receive friends at the home of her sister, Gloria Pollard 2185 Alston Road, Rembert.
The funeral procession will leave from the home of her sister at 2:20 p. m.
Floral Bearers and Pall Bearers will be family and friends.
Interment will be in the Grant Hill Baptist Church Yard Cemetery, 5401 Black River Road, Rembert.
