Mary Alice Perry

Mary Alice Perry,  54,  departed this life on  Monday, September 20, 2010 at Tuomey Regional Medical Center, Sumter.   Born  in Brooklyn, NY on November 16, 1955,  she was the daughter of Emma Jenkins and the late Willie Jenkins.  She was raised in Horatio by her late grandmother Emma and the late Aunt Amanda.  Mary was educated in Sumter County and graduated from Hillcrest High School.  She also attended Central Carolina Technical College.

Mary Alice accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into her life at St. Paul Holiness Church.  She continue living for the Lord and was affiliated with Resurrection Tabernacle of Deliverance, Sounds of Praise and Shubach Deliverance Ministries.  Later she went on to pastor Holy City Resurrection.

Elder Perry loved the Lord,  prayer, reading, writing, singing, preaching and especially taking some time to go fishing.  She loved her family,  her dogs Smooch and Princess and animals in general.  Everyone was her neighbor – she loved and cared deeply for others.

She leaves to cherish her fondest memories: four daughters, Jose Victoria (Gregory) Coakley, Sheila J. (Julius) Deschamps, Quanisha  Perry, Rosanna Perry, all of Sumter; her  three sons, Kenneth Perry of North Carolina, Mathew R. (Kimberly) Perry and Daniel Perry of Sumter;  her siblings,  Shirley (James) Coleman of Virginia,  Rosa Anna Alston of South Carolina,  Gwendolyn Alphonse and  Viola Jenkins of New Jersey,  Linda Jenkins, Mahalia Jenkins,  Gregory Jenkins, Tammy Jenkins, Tracey Jenkins, all of New York, Violet Jenkins of Oklahoma, Rosa Alexander of North Carolina,  Randolph (Crystal),  Joseph,  and John Perry,  Shirley Wheeler and Angie Harrison all of South Carolina;  four grandchildren, Shaniqua, Iesha, Jasmine and Jalik, raised in the home; nineteen other grandchildren;  her special friends, Ms. Mary Govan,  Pastor T. R. Kennedy,  Ms. Lucille Barnes, Ms. Alice Dennis; and adopted daughter,  Chiya (JuJu) Cherry;  a  host of  aunts,  uncles,  nieces, nephews,  cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Emma Murray Perry; her aunt, Amanda Perry; her son-in-law, Julius Deschamps; and sister,  Bernice Gant.

Funeral  services  will be  held 3:00 P. M., Sunday,  September  26, 2010  from  the  Canty Memorial Church Of God In Christ, 873 Woodcrest Street,  Sumter, with the Rev. Eugene Canty,  Senior Pastor,   Pastor Linda Simmons, pastor of Resurrection Tabernacle of Deliverance, eulogist, Reverend Dr. Mary L. Harvin,  presiding,  assisted by Evangelist Vernetta Owens, Chaplain Barbara Johnson,  Elder Robert Edwards, and Apostle T. R. Kennedy

The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Jose Victoria Coakley,  14 Burkett Drive, Sumter.

A wake service will be held  5 – 6 p. m,  Saturday, September 25, 2010 from the John Wesley Williams, Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc.  821 North Main Street, Sumter.

The Remains will be placed in the church at 2:00 p. m.

The funeral procession will leave from the home of her daughter at  2:30 p. m.

Floral bearers  and  Pall bearers  will be grandchildren, family and friends.

Burial will be in the Rafting Creek Baptist Church Yard Cemetery, Highway 261 North, Rembert.
