David Muldrow, 83, widower of Verline McFadden Muldrow, departed this earthly life on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Tuomey Regional Medical Center, Sumter.
Born in Sumter County on May 2, 1927, he was a son of the late Richard and Alma Kelly Muldrow.
He attended the public schools of Sumter County. He was a member of Joshua Baptist Church.
For many years he was employed as a long distance truck driver for Kelly Motor Lines, Blue Ridge and Anderson transfer Companies.
He was united in marriage to the late Verline McFadden Muldrow on December 9, 1944. to this union eight children were born.
He leaves to cherish his memory: four daughters, Frances Hudson, Everleana (Isaac) Champagne, Rosa McDuffie, all of Sumter, Alma (Charlie) Peterson of Wilmington, NC; one son, David Muldrow, Jr. of Sumter; seventeen grandchildren; thirty seven great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Smith and Arbelle Johnson of Sumter; one brother, Joseph Muldrow of Sumter; two grandchildren reared in the home, Dennis Muldrow and Michelle Davis; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Verline McFadden Muldrow; seven siblings; three sons; one grand daughter; one great granddaughter; one daughter-in-law; and one son-in-law.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P. M., Friday, September 24, 2010 from the Joshua Baptist Church, 5200 Live Oak Road, Dalzell, with Reverend Eugene Dennis, pastor, eulogist, assisted by Rev. William Jefferson, Rev. Otis Butler, Rev. R. L. Williams and Rev. Jeanette Jenkins.
The family will receive friends at his home 71 James Street, Sumter.
The Remains will be placed in the church at 1:00 P. M.
The funeral procession will leave from his home at 1:15 P. M.
Floral Bearers and Pall Bearers will be Family and Friends.
Burial will be in the Joshua Baptist Church Yard Cemetery, Dalzell.
