Bernie Pringle Sr.

Bernie Pringle, Sr. transitioned from labor to reward on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Springdale Healthcare Center, Camden. He was born January 3, 1919 to the late Edmund Wells and Louise Pringle. Bernie was the last of his siblings. He worked at Thomas and Howard Food Industry as a truck driver. Bernie married the love of his life, Pearl on September 22, 1941 who preceded him in 2016. To this union seven children were born: Louis Pringle (died at 6 months), Bernie Pringle, Jr. (Polly) of Charlotte, NC, Robert Lee Pringle (Lauretha) of Sumter, Beverly Pringle Baker (widow) of Sumter, Georgia Walls (widow) of Columbia, Doris McCants of Dallas, TX and Bruce Pringle (Jan) of Greenville. He joined the United States Army on May 3, 1945 and was issued a World War II Victory Ribbon. He worked as a hospital orderly. On August 14, 1946, he was discharged as Private First Class at Fort George Meade in Maryland. He received an Honorable Discharge. He leaves to cherish his memories: his six children; twenty two grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was a dedicated member of Congruity Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon. He was the father of the Church. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 595 Arlington Road, Sumter. Funeral services will be held 1 p. m., Saturday, November 2, 2019 from the Congruity Presbyterian Church USA, 3750 Congruity Road, Gable, with the Rev. Alonza A. Washington, pastor, eulogist. The Remains will be placed in the Church at noon. The funeral procession will leave from the home at 12:20 p. m. Burial will be in the Congruity Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
