Darryl Lee Franklin, 65, husband of Linda Sumpter Franklin, departed this life and entered into eternal rest early Monday morning, September 2, 2019 at MUSC Hospital, Charleston. Born in Sumter County, February 23, 1954, he was the son of the late Louis and Louise Headen Franklin. He was educated in the Charleston and Sumter County School Districts. During the early years of his life he was reared in Charleston. In 1972, he relocated back to Sumter, where he attended and graduated from Sumter High School, Class of 1973. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country. Darryl was a renaissance man, as he worked for the following companies, GTE Telephone Company, Peoples Natural Gas, Time Warner Cable and as a truck driver. Darryl was a member of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a member of the Trustee Board. He also attended Grace Cathedral Ministries, his wifeís home church. Precious memories will be cherished by: his wife, Linda S. Franklin; his children, Kenya Franklin, Shenika Weathers, Dara Ferchichi, Darryl Jaamal Franklin, Laque Franklin and Nicholas Franklin; five grandchildren; three sisters, Glories Coralette Scriven, Juanita Bryant and Gwendolyn Franklin; four brothers, Wilber (Janice) Franklin, Warren (Yvette) Franklin, Garrett Franklin and Perry (Joanne) Franklin; additional brothers and sisters-in-law, Leroy Sumpter, Jr., Perry (Deborah) Sumpter, Timothy (Lilian) Sumpter, Leroy (Susan S.) James, Ernest (Julie S.) Cornish and Carolyn Franklin; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the family home, 3440 Oleander Drive, Sumter. Funeral services will be held 1 p. m., Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at the Grace Cathedral Ministries, 60 Oswego Road, Sumter, with the Bishop Anthony Gibson, Pastor, Eulogist. The Remains will be placed in the Church at noon. The funeral procession will leave from the home at 12:20 p. m. Burial will be in the Hillside Memorial Park, 3001 Cainís Mill Road, Sumter.
