Julliette Marie Billups, 63, widow of James Billups, departed this earthly life on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at Mullins Nursing Center, Mullins.
Born November 16, 1946, in Sumter County, she was the daughter of Mary C. Hines and the late Julian Herman Hines, Sr.
At an early age, she accepted Christ and joined Wayman Chapel A. M. E. Church. She attended the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Ebenezer High School. She was employed with the NCO Club at Shaw Air Force Base before relocating to Washington, D. C. She was a dedicated employee for many years with the public school system in Washington, D. C.
Julliette was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late James Billups of Sumter. In addition to her husband and father, she was preceded in death by an only son, Dexter Dovell Hines.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: three children, Annette "Jennifer" Montgomery and Genova Billups, both of Sumter, and Tera Lashone (George) Sutton of Mount Olive, N. C.; a loving mother, Mary C. Hines; one sister, Frances Norfleet; and two brothers, Julian Herman Hines, her twin, all of Washington, D. C., and Samuel Peterson of Greenville, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Bernard Montgomery, Quinton Hines, and Rihanna Watts of Sumter; two aunts, Geneva (Robert) Montgomery of Irvinton, N. J., and Mary Croom of Harrisburg, P. A.; two uncles, Henry (Inez) Croom of Sumter, and Willie (Delia) Croom of New York, N. Y.; one nephew, Anthony Croom, and two nieces, Julia Williams, and Jimmel Brown, all of Washington, D. C.; a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p. m., Monday, March 1, 2010 from the Wayman Chapel A. M. E. Church, Highway 261 North, Sumter with Rev. Laddie N. Howard, pastor, eulogist, assisted by Rev. Charlie S. Howard, and Rev. Eric R. Dent.
The family will received friends at the home of her daughter, Annette "Jennifer" Montgomery 2010 Pinewood Road, Sumter.
A wake service will be held 6:00 – 7:00 p. m., Sunday from the John Wesley Williams, Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc. 821 North Main Street, Sumter,
The Remains will be placed in the church at 12:00 noon.
The funeral procession will leave from the home of her daughter at 12:15 p. m.
Floral Bearers and Pall Bearers will be friends of the family.
Burial will be in the Wayman Chapel A. M. E. Church Yard Cemetery Sumter.
