Pastor Clara R. Council
May 27, 1933 to Dec 21, 2018

Pastor Clara R. Council was born May 27, 1933 in Sumter, to the late Rev. Thomas Starlin Jasper and Fannie Sanders Jasper as one of 13 children. She departed this earthly life on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Kershaw Health Hospital, Camden. Clara attended a private Christian school by the name of Mather Academy in Camden. Upon graduation, she moved to Brooklyn, N Y, where she worked at Brooklyn Jewish Hospital as a Medical Secretary. It was here in New York that she decided to make the Lord her Lord and Savior after hearing his teachings all her life. Pastor Council moved back to Rembert, in 1977. She opened up the doors of Deliverance Temple Church in 1981. Spreading the word and helping people have always been her core. After her foster son, Joseph passed, she dedicated an extension of the church to him called Joseph’s Mercy Center. Each summer she would send a bus to Rembert to bring children to hear the teachings of the Lord, receive breakfast and lunch and have fun fellowshipping with other children. Clara lived a life of a faithful servant. She helped anyone who had a need. She would give the clothes off her back and the last dime she had to help people. Clara has helped raised over 25 foster children in her life time, she has fed and clothed the homeless, stood in the gap for souls and helped bring people to Christ. You never spoke to Clara without hearing about the Lord and how gracious and merciful he was. She was a loyal and faithful servant and led a life reflective of that. Pastor Council was a praying mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, who leaves to cherish her legacy: daughter, Carla (Ronnie) Green; sons, Treven Fluellen and Devin Braswell; grandchildren, Zentra (DG) Choice, Katrina Keyna Rae, Cashayna Harris; great-grandchildren, Khalif Johnson, Zentrina and DC Choice (Del) and ZaKhya (her baby); Pastor Linda S.
