God in all His splendid glory saw fit to call home, Earl Levern Joe III, 57, husband of Shirley Pough Joe, on Sunday, January 31, 2010.
Born December 14, 1952, in Lee County, he was the son of Elouise Williams Joe and the late Willie Joe.
He was educated in the public schools of Lee County. He served in the United States Army for many years, and was a transportation specialist for Hopkins Trucking Cooperation.
He leaves to cherish in loving memories: his loving wife, Shirley Joe; two daughters, Connie Joe of Columbia, and Erika Joe of the home; five sons, Mickeal Joe of Bishopville, Brian Pouge of the home, Roderick Joe of Bennettsville, Chad Joe of Charleston, Leon Rivers of Bishopville; eight sisters, Louise Stuckey (James), Willia Boyd, Maggie Green, Blondie Richardson (Edward), Patricia (Levern) Kirkland, Alfreda Mickens, Debbie (David) Quick and Tess Fullard; two brothers, Alfred Joe of Seattle, WA, Tyrone Joe of Bishopville; nineteen grandchildren; three brothers-in-law, Joe (Pam) Pouge of Columbia, James Pouge and Jimmy (Tracey) Davis of Bishopville; four sisters-in-law, Betty (Clea) Boykin of Rembert, Hattie Pouge, Rosa Glen, and Rebecca (Willie) Harriot of Rembert, a life long friend, Sammie Lee Brisbon of Bishopville; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Deacon Willie Joe, and his son, Earl L. Joe IV.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p. m., Saturday, February 6, 2010 from the Mt. Calvary Holiness Church, 771 Central School Road, Rembert, with Rev. James Epps, pastor, Rev. Patricia Kirkland, sister pastor of the Brockington Street Church of God, Timmonsville, eulogist, Rev. Curtis Murph, pastor of the Jamestown Road Church of God, Bishopville, officiating, assisted by Minister Maggie Williams.
The family will received friends at the home of his mother, Elouise Joe, 76 Plumb Lane, Camden and at the home of his wife Shirley Joe, 24 Comfort Lane, Dalzell.
The Remains will be placed in the church at 1:00 p. m.
The funeral procession will leave from the home of his wife at 1:20 p. m.
Floral Bearers will be Eastern Stars, nieces and cousins.
Pall Bearers will be and friends of the family.
Burial will be in the Jamestown Road Church of God Cemetery, Bishopville.
