Comilla “Paul” Jenkins Martin, 80, departed this life and entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Palmetto Health Richland Memorial Hospital, Columbia. Born December 26, 1937, in Lee County, she was the daughter of the late Johnnie Boone, Sr. and Ronea Jenkins. Comilla received her formal education in the public schools of Sumter County. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Olive A. M. E. Church, where she held many leadership roles in addition to her services on the usher board, jubilee Choir and Women’s Missionary Society (Burrows Unit). She was also a member of the Twelve Tribes of Israel, Lodge # 11. She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Raymond Martin of 49 years; their three children, Gloria J. Martin of Fairburn, GA, Ralph O. Martin (Andrea) of Upper Marlboro, MD, Patricia A. Martin of Dalzell and a granddaughter reared in the home, Shontel Wright (Thomas) of Atlanta, GA; four step children, Diane Smith, Dorthey Mae McCray, Wanda Harrison and Richard Wilson; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; eight sisters, Alene Martin, Ammie Anderson, Julia Nelson of Sumter, Irene Jenkins of Fairview, IL, Johnnie Mae Swann of Norfolk, VA, Catharine Boone of Darlington, Alene McCullough and Hattie Mae McCullough, both of Lamar; one special sister, Mary Abram of Alexandria, VA; four brothers, Ivie Jenkins of Newark, N. J., Edward (Margaret) Jenkins of Brooklyn, N. Y., Johnnie Boone, Jr. of Sumter, Henry (Dorothy) Boone of Camden Wyo, DE; one daughter-in-law; four sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 790 Westbury Mill Road, Sumter. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 31, 2018, 11 a. m. from the Mt. Olive A. M. E. Church, 2738 Highway 441, Sumter, with the Rev. Dr. Friendly J. Gadson, Pastor, Eulogist, The Remains will be placed in the church at 10 a. m. The funeral procession will leave the home at 10:20 a. m. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive Memorial Garden.
