Born July 1, 1950 in Lee County, he was a son of Corine Myers Johnson and the late Alex Johnson, Sr. He was reared in a Christian home and words can not express the beautiful way he carried himself. He loved life, enjoyed life, and any one that knew him loved and enjoyed being around him. He was always caring and willing to help others. He was dependable, faithful and fun loving. He also worked part-time for New Jersey Transit during that time. After returning home to South Carolina, he was employed with the Lee County Correctional Center until his health started to decline.

He met and married the late Lillie Josey Johnson. To this union one son was born. He later met and married Waunell Smith Johnson.
