Eunist James Simon, 53, son of the late Eunist and Pauline Jenkins Simon, was born on November 30, 1964 in Sumter County. Eunist gave up his mortal life for immortality on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Palmetto Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. He attended the public schools of Sumter County and lived in Sumter most of his adult life. He worked on a farm for many years and his motto was : “You gotta work to live.” Eunist was a quiet, easy going person, who was loved by many. He was a faithful member of Mechanicsville United Methodist Church and enjoyed going to the services every Sunday morning. He leaves to cherish his memories: one son, Alphonso (Kali) Simon; two granddaughters, Srierra Simon and Zaniiah Simon; one grandson, Hayden Simon, all of Manning; two brothers, James Simon and Earnest Jenkins, both of Sumter; two sisters, Betty Rufus of Sumter and Barbara Ann Simon of Rock Hill; a special friend, Maybell Gass; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 5545 Goshen Road, Sumter and at the home of his brother, 1013 Marilyn Avenue, Sumter. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 1 p. m. from the John Wesley Williams Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc, 821 North Main Street, Sumter with Elder J. Elbert Williams, officiating, eulogist. The funeral procession will leave from his home at 12:20 p. m. Burial will be in the Mechanicsville United Methodist Churchyard Cemetery.
