Alecia (Lisa) Renee Nathaniel Lawrence, daughter of Isadore Nathaniel III and Sarah Roach Nathaniel, was born March 1, 1980 in Sumter. She departed this life on Friday, February 9, 2018 at her home in Durham, N. C. with her parents at her side. She will be sorely missed by her fiancÚ, Desmond O. Nkansah of Durham, N. C. At an early age, Lisa was converted and joined Orangehill A. M. E. Church, Wedgefield, where she served until leaving home to attend College. She was baptized at High Hills Baptist Church, Dalzell. Lisa graduated with Honors from Lakewood High School, Sumter, in 1998. She earned her Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) degree from Columbia College, Columbia in 2002 and the Master of Business Administration from Webster University, Columbia in 2005. Lisa did further studies in Marketing at Strayer University, Columbia. After graduation from College, Lisa worked in the Business Education Department at Benedict College, Columbia. She later worked as General Business Instructor at Williamsburg Technical College, Kingstree, where she also served as Advisor to The Alpha Sigma Gamma Chapter of The Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. Lisa moved to Durham in 2012 and worked as Director of Business Administration Programs and Instructor in The School of Business at Durham Technical College until her death. Lisa was full of energy and loved her job which she continued even from home and the hospital, at times when her health did not allow her to go to the work site. She was beloved by many of her co-workers and students. She had a desire to form a Cancer Support Group to help women cope with and work through health issues similar to those she faced. Lisa loved her family and treasured her visits to Sumter to be with them, especially time spent with her parents and brother. She was an active member of the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Columbia. Lisa was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Willie and Rosa Roach and uncle, Eddie Gene Nathaniel. Loving memories are cherished by her parents and brother, Damien; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Isadore Nathaniel II, all of Sumter; uncles, James (Katie) Roach of Hopkins and Rev. Earnest (Geraldine) Nathaniel of Florence; aunts, Susan Nathaniel Grant of Newport News, VA and Jeannette (Walter) Roach Johnson of Sumter; three grand uncles; six grand aunts; godmothers, Carol Singleton and Sadie Jennings; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. The family will be receiving relatives and friends at 4210 Wedgefield Road, Sumter. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 3 p. m. from the Orangehill A. M. E. Church, 3005 South Highway 261, Wedgefield, with the Rev. Jerale Crummy, pastor, eulogist. The Remains will be placed in the church at 2 p. m. The funeral procession will leave from the home at 2:20 p. m. Burial services will be in the High Hills Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 6750 Meeting House Road, Dalzell.
