Rosetta Burgess Cousar, 97, made a peacefully transition to her eternal rest on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at her home. Born December 14, 1920 in Clarendon County, she was the daughter of the late Dais Felix and Lydia Olivia Burgess. She was the widow of George Cousar. Rosetta accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She was a member of Oak Grove A. M. E. Church, where she held different roles that included singing in the senior choir, Sunday School Superintendent, Women Missionary Society and the Senior Group. She leaves to mourn: three daughters, Esther Ham, Regenia Shaw Caines and Dorothy Couser; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; nineteen great-great grandchildren; two nieces; four nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 1002 Plowden Mill Road, Sumter. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018, 11 a. m. from the Oak Grove A. M. E. Church, 1709 Burnt Branch Road, Turbeville, with the Rev. Shernard R. Barnes, pastor, eulogist. The procession will leave from the home at 10:20 a. m. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park, 802 North Guignard Drive, Sumter.
