Thomas Eugene Robinson, 71, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017 at Palmetto Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. Born April 9, 1946, in Sumter, he was the son of James Leroy and Earlene Robinson. After attending the public schools of Sumter County and Lincoln High School, he moved to New York, and while there he worked at Parkway Housing as a maintenance superintendent. After retiring in 1991, he relocated back to Sumter, where he utilized the skills learned from his father and worked as a carpenter until he could no longer do so. Tommy was a faithful member of Allen Chapel A. M. E. Church and an avid lover of baseball and music. Thomas is survived by: his wife, Barbara Walker; his daughters, Teresa Robinson, Glynda Robinson, Alicia Noble (Bryan), Joette Eason; two sisters, Blanche Logan and Jimmie Blossom; two brothers, John Edward Robinson and Roosevelt Anderson, Sr.; three step sisters, Eva Mae Vaughn (Sammy), Mary Johnson, Eartha Eadie; one step brother, John Johnson; seven grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 700 Loring Mill Road, Sumter. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 25, 2017, 11:00 a. m., from the Allen Chapel A. M. E. Church, 471 Lynam Road, Sumter, with the Rev. Dr. George E. Hicks, pastor, eulogist. Wake services will be held Friday, 5 6 p. m., in the John Wesley Williams, Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter. The Remains will be placed in the church at 10:00 a. m. Funeral procession will leave from the home at 10:30 a. m. Burial will be in the Allen Chapel A. M. E. Church Cemetery.
