Lynwood Cooper, 68, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at his home. Born in Sumter County, November 19, 1948, he was the son of Henry and Mary Washington Wilder Cooper. Lynwood attended the school for the blind in South Carolina. He joyfully accepted Christ as his personal Savior in his later years. Lynwood loved singing as well as spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by seven sisters, Margaret (John Livingston), Mary Lewis, Viola Crayton, Emily Avant, Lisa (Earnest Williams), Hattie Lee, Charlene Crump; six brothers, Samuel Cooper, Frank Cooper, Dennis Cooper, Elmer (Rosa Cooper), Isaac (Mary Cooper) Scottie (Theresa Cooper); a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and the Sumter County Disabilities and Special Needs Board Staff, caregivers and friends. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 7001 Octon Road, Dalzell. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11 a. m. from the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with Rev. William Jefferson, officiating, eulogist. The funeral procession will leave the home at 10:20 a. m. Burial will be in the Walker Cemetery.
