Tory Lashaun Shaw, 36, affectionately known as “Silk”, departed this life peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, October 15, 2017. Born April 16, 1981, in Sumter County, he was the son of Barbara Ann Mobley Shaw and the late James Shaw, Jr. During the early years of his life, Tory joined Quinn Chapel A. M. E. Church, where he received Jesus Christ as his Savior. Tory graduated from Sumter High School in 2000. He later attended Benedict College and Devry University, where he received an Associates of Arts degree, as well as a degree in Information Technology. He leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Barbara Ann Mobley Shaw; one brother, Vincent (Paula) Shaw of Lansdale, PA; two sisters, Patricia (Shawn) Pringle and Deborah Shaw, both of Sumter; four uncles; three aunts; a special cousin, Jauan Cabbagestalk; one niece; three nephews; a host of other relatives and friends. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 533 West Calhoun Street, Sumter. Homegoing celebration will be held 11 a. m., Saturday, October 21, 2017 from A. L. I. V. E. Praise & Worship Center & Ministries, 342 West Liberty Street, Sumter, with the Rev. James Goodman, pastor, Pastor Cynthia Moses-Nedd, eulogist. The Remains will be placed in the church at 10 a. m. The funeral procession will leave from the home at 10:20 a. m. Interment will be in the Hillside Memorial Park, 3001 Cain’s Mill Road, Sumter.
