Corinthia A. Harlee Washington, 76, widow of Elijah Washington, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, October 8, 2017. Born July 16, 1941, in Fayetteville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Thomas W. and Louise B. Harlee. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Bethel A. M. E. Church. She was educated at Clovis High School, Clovis, New Mexico and graduated from E. E. Smith High School, Fayetteville, N. C. She attended North Carolina A & T University. Corinthia was employed at Becton-Dickinson and Company for many years until retiring. She leaves to cherish her memories: seven children, Cynthia (Frankie) Thompson, Terrance Washington, Cassandra (Willie) Brown, Carlos Washington, Nicholete (Johnny Sr.) Witherspoon, Stephanie Billie, Stephen (Toni) Washington; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; a god daughter, Tanya Wilson; siblings, Arnetta Liverman of Baltimore, MD, Dorothy Bell of Winston Salem, NC, Rovenia Williams of Wichita Falls, TX, Mary McArthur, Avis McArthur, Mavis (James) Smith, Thomas M. Harlee, Jr., and Oberine McArthur, all of Fayetteville, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 46 Burnhill Street, Sumter. Homegoing services will be held noon, Saturday, October 14, 2017, from the Mt. Pisgah A. M. E. Church, 217 West Bartlette Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Laddie N. Howard, pastor, the Rev. Davie Brown, officiating, and the Rev. Frank Benjamin, eulogist. The Remains will be placed in the church at 11 a. m. The funeral procession will leave at 11:20 a. m. from the home. Interment will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park, 802 North Guignard Drive, Sumter.
