Elizabeth Ann China Smith, 65, departed this life on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Palmetto Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. Born August 14, 1952, in Sumter County, she was the daughter of Fred China, Sr. and Genetha Mae Reese China. She was a graduate of Ebenezer High School, Class of 1969. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Saviour and joined Hopewell Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memories: her son, Byron B. (Denise) China, of Wedgefield; one grandson, SSG Quentrell (Jessica) Nelson of Alexandria, LA; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Beverly Rivers and Jacquelyn C. Pinckney, both of Wedgefield; three brothers, Sidney Lewis China of Dalzell, Melvin (Ann) China of Eastover and Erwin (Loria) China of Wedgefield; four aunts; one uncle; one sister-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, 5350 Antique Lane, Wedgefield. Homegoing Celebration will be held at 11 a. m., Saturday, October 7, 2017, from the Hopewell Baptist Church, 3285 Peach Orchard Road, Dalzell, with the Rev. Richard Addison, pastor, eulogist. The remains will be placed in the church at 10 a. m. The funeral procession will leave from the home at 10:20 a. m. Burial will be in the Hopewell Baptist Churchyard Cemetery.
