Hannah Louise Jenkins, 75, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital, Columbia. Born April 15, 1942, in Lee County, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Evelyn Marolia Jefferson, Sr. She was educated in the public schools system of Lee County and was a faithful member of Mt. Olive A. M. E. Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Hannah was employed by the Hodge family, an employment that quickly became family. Surviving to cherish her memory are: her sons, Willie (Melissa) Jenkins, Jr. of Rembert and Robbie (Nikkie) Jenkins of Sumter; two special boys raised as her own, Troy and Brandon Hodge of Sumter; one brother, Alex Jefferson, Jr. of Bishopville; three uncles, William Jenkins, James (Pastor Jeannette) Jenkins and Otha Johnson; two aunts, Bertha McCoy and Rosa Lee Wactor, all of Sumter; eleven grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; special friends, Joyce Hodge, Susie Mae Brisbone and cousin Gladys McMillan, other relatives and friends. Homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 11 a. m. from the Mt. Olive A. M. E. Church, 2738 Woodrow Road, Woodrow, with the Rev. Dr. Friendly J. Gadson, Pastor, Eulogist. The family will received relatives and friends at her home, 7785 Dubose Siding Road, Dalzell. The procession will leave 10:30 a. m. from her home. Burial will be in the Cooksfield Cemetery, J. D. Herriott Road, Dalzell.
