Dennis R. McLaurin departed this earthly life on June 26, 2017, at Palmetto Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. Born in Arcola, MS, he was the son of the late Willie McLaurin, Jr. and Hattie Mae McLaurin. He was raised in Chicago, IL by the late Moses and Hattie Mae Smart. Dennis graduated from Morgan Park High School and attended Central Carolina Technical College. He was Honorably Discharged after serving four years in the United States Air Force. After separation from the Air Force, Dennis was employed by Becton & Dickinson Company, where he retired after 32 years. He was member in good standing with Catchall Masonic Lodge #425. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Lillie; his children, Denise (Andre) Ramsey, Gwen Vareen, Dennis McLaurin, Jr., David Alston, Sylvia Alston and Valerie Alston; his siblings, Geraldine (James), Shedrick (Donna), Vickie (William), Charles (Nekita), Shawn, Lanese (Samuel), Dwayne (Demetrice), Lilla (Lindsey), and Marque; twelve grandchildren; four aunts; six uncles; a host of other relatives and friends. Homegoing services will be held Saturday, July 1, 2017, 12 noon, from the Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, 7355 Camden Highway, Rembert, with the Rev. Anthony L. Taylor, Sr., pastor, eulogist. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 6365 Sylvia Road, Rembert. The Remains will be placed in the church at 11 a. m. The procession will leave 11:20 a. m. from the home. Burial will be in the Mt Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church Yard Cemetery.
