Tom Sanders, 86, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Palmetto Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. Born in Sumter County, he was the son of James Dury Sanders and Ella Youngs Sanders. He was the husband of the late Lurine Workman Sanders and the stepson of the late Louise Dinkins Sanders. Mr. Sanders confessed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour at an early age and joined fellowship with Rafting Creek Baptist Church. He also fellowshipped with Anointed Word Christian Worship Center. Mr. Sanders was employed and retired from Becker Sand and Gravel Company. He also worked at The Brick Plant, Sumter. He leaves to cherish his memories: four daughters, Bennie Williams, Pastor Marie Sanders, Myra Sanders, all of Rembert, Valerie (Carl) Harris of Warrenton, VA; three sons, Thomas (Willie Mae) Sanders of Lugoff, Wayne (Carol), Willie Sanders of Rembert; four sisters, Mamie Dinkins and Steral Singleton of Rembert, Louise Graham of Sumter, and Alberta Williams of Laurelton, NY; two brothers, Willie and Edgar Sanders of Rembert; twelve grandchildren; three adopted grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; seven sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Homegoing services will be held Saturday, June 24, 2017 2 p. m. from the Rafting Creek Baptist Church, 3860 Highway 261 North, Rembert, with the Rev. Melvin Mack, pastor, presiding, Rev. Freddie Davis, pastor of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Washington, DC, eulogist. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 5750 T B Wright Road, Rembert. The Remains will be placed in the church at 1 p. m. The procession will leave 1:30 p. m. from the home. Burial will be in the Rafting Creek Baptist Church Yard Cemetery.
