Willimea Prince Franklin, 87, departed this earthly life on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Palmetto Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. Born on May 1, 1930, in Lee County, she was the daughter of the late Warren and Mariah Prince Slater. She was married to the late William H. Franklin. She grew up and was educated in the public school of Lee County. She was introduced to Christ at an early age at St. Mark Baptist Church and later joined Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, where she was a dedicated member of the Senior Choir until her health failed. She leaves to cherish her memory: a son, John McDuffie of Augusta, GA; a daughter, Deloris Ann Gary of Sumter; three sisters, Elizabeth Ann Slater of Manhattan, NY, Francis Davis of Roselle, NJ, and Essie Wilson of Philadelphia, PA; three brothers, Michael and Wallace, both of Sumter and Jasper Slater of Roselle, NJ; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Homegoing services will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017 - 1:00 p. m., from the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, 10331 Plowden Mill Road, Alcolu, with Pastor Hazel Charles, officiating, eulogist. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 751 North Main Street, James Village, Apt. #18, Sumter. The Remains will be placed in the church at 12:00 noon. The funeral procession will leave from the home at 12:20 p. m. Burial will be in the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church Cemetery.
