Susie Herrington Williams, 90, departed this life on Monday, May 22, 2017 at her residence. Born on November 6, 1926, in Lee County, she was the daughter of the late William and Lucy Wells Herrington. She was married to the late Hammie Williams. Susie attended the public schools of Sumter County. She was employed at Shaw Air Force Base, Pioneer Dress Factory and Wateree Head Start Program. At an early age, she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She was a devoted and faithful member of the Union Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Gospel Choir and Senior Missionary Society. She was very involved with the Catchall Community Center and also a member of the Friendship Club. She leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Willie (Bertha) Williams of Columbia, James (Sylvia) Williams of Orangeburg, Joseph (Patricia) Williams of Sumter, Sam (Deborah) Williams of Southfield, MI, Leroy (Loretta) Williams of Aiken, Henry Williams of Charlotte, NC, Stacey (Norman) Baker of Holly Hill, Daisy Williams Pollard of Columbia, Charles Williams of Charlotte, NC; one sister, Willie Mae Martin of Dalzell; a great nephew that she raised, Damon Missouri of East Elmhurst, NY; Howard (Mable) Sumter of Rembert who she thought of and treated as one of her sons; twenty five grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren; six sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Service of Praise will be held Friday, May 26, 2017 - 2:00 p. m., from the Union Baptist Church, 5840 Springhill Road, Rembert, with the Rev. Walter Robertson III, pastor, eulogist, the Rev. Dr. Willie Dennis, pastor Emeritus, presiding. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 4365 Herrington Road, Rembert. The Remains will be placed in the church at 1:00 p. m. The funeral procession will leave from the home at 1:20 p. m. Burial will be in the Union Baptist Church Yard Cemetery.
