Bernie Singleton, 76, widower of Louise Lowery Singleton, departed this life on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Sumter Health and Rehabilitation, Sumter.

Born September 1, 1933, in Clarendon County, he was the son of the late Sparrow Faison and Ella Bell McCoy.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory: his devoted daughters, Ella McCain (Steven) and Olga Singleton, both of Sumter; a daughter-in-law, Denise Singleton; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a special friend, Ella Brunson; seven foster children, Gwendolyn Washington, Leroy Davis, Sammie Lee Singleton, Katherine Davis, Isaac Davis, Zenobia Davis, and Darlene Davis; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Lowery Singleton; two brothers, Matthew and Leon Singleton; one sister, Daisy Mae Singleton; one son, Bernie Singleton, Jr., and one granddaughter, Anthonette Singleton.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p. m., Wednesday, December 30, 2009 from the John Wesley Williams, Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter with the Rev. Cory Stevenson, officiating, eulogist.

 

The family will received friends at the home of his daughter, Ella McCain, 865 Unity Court, Sumter.The funeral procession will leave from the home of his daughter at 1:30 p. m.

Floral Bearers and Pall Bearers will be friends of the family.

Burial will be in the Barfield Cemetery, Alcolu.
