Angela Fonta Johnson Rose was the daughter of the late Cornell and Johnnie Mae Johnson. She was born November 25, 1964, in Lancaste. Angie graduated with honors from Lancaster High School in 1983. She graduated from Morris College, Sumter, in 1987 with a Bachelor Degree and later earned her Masters Degree from South Carolina State University, Orangeburg. Angie worked at the University of South Carolina (Columbia campus), South Carolina Department of Corrections, and Sumter County School District, where she retired June of 2020 as the Guidance Counselor at Cherryvale Elementary School. Angie was initiated into the Xi Rho Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated at Morris College in 1984. One of Angie’s greatest joys of life was being a mother of her only living child, Kendall DeAngelo Rose and devoted wife to her husband, Kenny Rose. Although she only had a short time, she loved being a grandmother to her only granddaughter, Kennedy Skye Rose. She oh so loved her Godchildren, Jamey, James II and Jaley Thompson. She was a loving mother in law of Rhonsha. Angie loved being the baby sister of Thurmond (Candace) Johnson, Robbie Johnson, Sadie Harris, Annie Gorski, Ida Hough, Janice (Larry) McCloud, Carolyn Harrison, and Gean Gatskin. Angie also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and many cousins to cherish her memory. Angie began her spiritual journey at a young age at Cedar Creek AME Church, in Lancaster. She was a founding member of United Bible Way Church of Lancaster, affectionately called “The First Lady” where she remained active in her faith until the time of her transition with the Lord. She was a Charter Life Member of Morris College National Alumni Association, a member of the Palmetto State School Counselors Association, PSSCA, and a member of Runnymede Homeowners Association. Angie was an extraordinary woman and will be greatly missed. In accordance with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting no visitation at the home. Graveside services will be held 12:00 noon, Sunday, January 10, 2021 at United Bible Way Church, Inc., 2746 Great Falls Highway, Lancaster, with Dr. Kenny W. Rose, Founder and Pastor, officiating. The family will leave the home at 10:00 a. m. Burial will be in the United Bible Way Church Hillside Memorial Garden, Lancaster.
